By car There are two highways, both of them taxed, which link Tarragona to Barcelona. The journey Barcelona-Tarragona, depending on the time and the type of car may last from one hour to one hour and a half. These highways are: C-32, linking Barcelona to Tarragona. At El Vendrell it joins to the A-7 highway and to the N-340 and A-7, which is the highway that links Barcelona to Tarragona and Valencia.
There is no highway linking directly Tarragona to Madrid. From Madrid, the most recommended way is taking the dual carriageway N-II (Madrid-Zaragoza), going on by the A-2 highway (Zaragoza-Barcelona) and leave it by the Exit 8 (l´Albi-Vinaixa) or Exit 9 (Montblanc-l´Espluga de Francolí) arriving to Tarragona by the N-240 road (Montblanc-Tarragona) or by the C-14 (Montblanc-Alcover-Reus-Tarragona); the latter option is longer but, paradoxly, is usually covered faster. Signposting is optimum, so chances of losing oneself are minimum.
